The Casper: Korea's light-class SUV

The Casper launched in Korea in September 2021 as a light car (gyeongcha), the Korean class for cars under 1.0 litre and 3.6 metres that get tax and parking discounts at home. It is built in Gwangju and was never sold new in the Gulf, which is why the auction is the only way to get one.

Every petrol Casper uses a 1.0 three-cylinder: the 1.0 MPI or the 1.0 turbo (T-GDI) in the Inspiration and The Casper Active trims, both with a 4-speed automatic. The Casper Electric followed in 2024 and has its own page.

What to check before you bid

Caspers are young and mostly privately owned, so the inspection report is usually clean. Check the trim and engine in the report: the turbo cars are noticeably quicker on Gulf highways, and the Inspiration trim brings the larger screen, the folding front passenger seat and the driver-assistance features.

Because it is a city car, look at the panel-replacement section for bumper and door repairs from parking, which are common and usually minor.

Who the Casper suits, and shipping

It suits buyers who want a new-shape, economical small SUV for city driving and are happy with a 1.0 engine. Parts are Hyundai parts shared with other small models, and we supply any Casper-specific part from Korea.

It is smaller than a sedan, so the sedan-size freight rate in our calculator is the most it will cost to ship.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a used Hyundai Casper in Korea?

Most Hyundai Casper cars in the Korean auction right now (80% of listings) are priced between $7,899 and $19,203, with a median of $10,652 — half cost $10,652 or less. These are auction prices in Korea before shipping and customs; the exact price depends on year, mileage and trim.

How much does it cost to import a Hyundai Casper from Korea to Saudi Arabia?

As an indicative example at our calculator rates for a sedan-size car (updated 2026-07), a Hyundai Casper at the median auction price of $10,652 comes to about $13,035 to Jeddah on the Red Sea or $12,835 to Dammam on the Arabian Gulf. That covers the car, Korean export fees, sea freight and our service commission; it excludes Saudi Arabia's customs duties, taxes and port clearance, which your customs broker handles on arrival. Enter any car's price in the import cost calculator, then we send you a final written quote on WhatsApp.

Calculate import cost
How long does shipping a Hyundai Casper from Korea to Saudi Arabia take?

Sailing from Busan to Jeddah or Dammam takes about 25–35 days depending on the shipping line, plus 3–5 days for export de-registration and preparation in Korea and the clearance days at the arrival port. You can ship RoRo (cheaper and faster to load) or in a container (more protection).

Importing from Korea to Saudi Arabia: full guide
Does a Korean-market Hyundai Casper meet Saudi Arabia's import requirements?

That depends on the specific car and on the rules in force when you import: requirements such as vehicle age and specification differ by country and change over time. So before you pay, we confirm the current requirements for the exact car you choose, and we prepare the export certificate, commercial invoice, bill of lading and inspection report your customs broker uses to clear it on arrival.

Can I inspect a Hyundai Casper before buying?

Yes — we send the official inspection report and all photos, and an additional independent inspection can be arranged before payment.

Is the Hyundai Casper sold in the Gulf?

Not as a new car: the petrol Casper is a Korean-market light car. Importing one from the Korean auction is the way to get it, with the official inspection report.

Casper turbo or non-turbo?

The 1.0 turbo if you drive on highways; the 1.0 MPI is fine for city use and slightly cheaper. The inspection report and the listing state which engine the car has.
